Imperial Maid Leona's Life - Imperial Maid Leona's Life Chapter 01
The Last Days of the Empire
The burning imperial city.
The sound of gunshots and shrill screams echoed here and there.
A night stained with chaos and fear.
Leona, the palace maid, walked unsteadily with a bewildered expression.
Wherever she walked, corpses were strewn about and treasures of ancient times were scattered in pieces.
The once splendid and magnificent appearance of the imperial palace was now nowhere to be found.
A wail of sorrow dispersed through the air, and the beautiful garden burned hotly, emitting black smoke.
In order to survive, the maids, servants, and even the knights threw down their swords and ran towards the castle gate, but most of them fell to the enemy’s swords before they even reached the gate.
Leona headed towards the innermost part of the palace, in the opposite direction of the fleeing people.
The Angel of Death was chasing her from behind, but she walked silently at a steady pace.
The entire palace was in chaos, and no one could stand in Leona’s way.
She entered the Crown Prince’s Palace without hesitation.
The Crown Prince’s palace, which had lost its master, was as eerie and quiet as an abandoned house, without even a single light.
Leona took a deep breath. Coming here, the carnage going on outside seemed distant.
Leona went straight to the palace’s backyard.
In the center of the garden, which was filled with nothing but tall, unattractive trees, stood a single, huge, old tree.
As soon as Leona stood in front of the old tree, she fell to the ground.
After caressing the cold ground under the old tree for a moment, Leona took off the mask-like expression she had been keeping until then and burst into sobs.
“Sob…!”
She sobbed, clutching two fists full of dirt.
I felt a heavy sense of guilt, as if all this was my fault.
“Black… Your Highness the Crown Prince…”
The young grandson buried beneath this earth came to mind.
“Ugh…… Ugh…….”
What did you buy it for?
Leona asked herself, beating her chest.
Looking back, I realize that my life is stained with sin.
The power she so desperately desired was now seen as nothing more than a filthy lump of filth, and the position she had gained by harming and trampling on others was a swamp filled with rotten water.
He was not aware that he was floundering in the filth and was simply happy that he had power and was in a high position.
Leona bit her lip and swallowed a scream.
The more I recalled the past, the more pain I felt.
I have committed countless mistakes in an attempt to have more and be higher than others.
I regret all of those things, but the most sinful thing was harming the grandson.
From the moment that innocent young life was snuffed out, a huge rock had been weighing on Leona’s heart.
From then on, she looked back to see if she was going down the wrong path.
And then I realized.
How dirty and twisted you are.
Once I realized it, I couldn’t stand the foul smell that came from my whole body.
But she was already in too deep a swamp to turn back.
The flames soon spread to the rear garden of the Crown Prince’s Palace.
Red flames began to engulf the area, but Leona did not move from her spot.
I had nowhere to go and I didn’t want to go.
I wanted to spend the last days of my life in front of the tomb of my grandson.
“There’s a little rat hiding here!”
Suddenly a sharp knife pierced her from her back to her stomach.
Leona accepted death sweetly without even groaning.
